Five Minute Victories

Pastor's Web Site Find The Power

Five minute victories. We live in an age of defeat. We are over-taxed, over-burdened, over-controlled, over-governed, over-regulated, over-this, over-that. In response to these "overs" we either live with the heavy hand of pain-filled darkness upon us, or we live in victory. When we live in pain, we live in defeat if we cannot make the pain go away. Pain is defeating. Emotional hurt is defeating. Physical pain is defeating. More often than not, we respond by not responding. We respond to powers greater than us by being passive. Perhaps we should rebel. Perhaps we should come against those powers attacking us or suffocating us by rebellion in some form. However, in the United States and in other parts of the world, we are more or less a passive people. We do not riot. We do not respond with violence. We respond with peace and acquiescence. By not trying to score victories against the powers holding us down, we live in defeat. We must stop living in defeat. We must start living in victory. We must live in victory for Christ and for His call upon us to love others. We must start living in victory by building His kingdom on earth. We must start living in victory by scoring five minute victories. If we start scoring five minute victories every day, even if just one victory a day, we have started a victorious campaign against the power of darkness so wanting us to be defeated.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord place His healing hands upon you to give you comfort and peace.

What Is The Cost?

Pastor's Web Site Find The Power

The hurting heart is a heart grasping itself. Like we grasp a finger that gets hurt, we grasp our heart when we hurt emotionally. Grasping our heart when we hurt is not a bad thing in and of itself. However, when we grasp our heart we are selfish. For our self-protection, we need to guard our heart, but we must not stay in this guarded position. At some point, when we hurt, we must start looking outward rather than inward. We must, when we hurt, start reaching out to others. Others may hurt us, but when we have become strong, we understand those who hurt us are the ones who lose. Each person must make a choice, we must choose to be like the one who abuse us, or like Jesus who had all power and strength and who chose to take the ultimate punishment of death for each of us. We do not have to trust God or others. But what is the cost to you of living in distrust? What is the cost to you of never having another person in your life? What is the cost to you of living in isolation all of your days? What is the cost to you of turning your back on the truly hurting hearts of the world who need you to reach out to them and help them?

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord place His healing hands upon you to give you comfort and peace.

It Isn't The Prayer Answer You Get

Pastor's Web Site Find The Power

Someone passed away who was on my prayer list. For a few moments I wondered why my praying for healing didn't work. However, an answer came to me. The was, in essence, it isn't always the answer you get from your praying that is most important. What God sees as most important is your exercise in faith, in love, in going to Him because you are a frail fallible human being. God loves the person in need crying out to Him. Tonight, God gained and the departed loved ones lost. In our hope for eternal life, God's gain is always the maximum gain. Our loss is only temporary.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord place His healing hands upon you to give you comfort and peace.

Jesus I See Thee (Poem/Lyrics)

Pastor's Web Site Find The Power

Jesus I see thee
On this night of woe
Pouring thy love down
My heart doth aglow

Jesus I see thee
In my grief I do call
Thou art now with me
On my knees I do fall

Jesus I see thee
Within my heart I find
Thy love I do know
O Lord thou art mine

Jesus I see thee
Thou art surely mine
Forever and ever
Thy Love Doth Ever Bind

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord place His healing hands upon you to give you comfort and peace.

It's Christmas On Planet Zeon

Pastor's Web Site Find The Power

It is 12/25/2009 12:14 AM PST here on planet Earth. It is also 12/25/2009 12:14 AM PST here on planet Zeon. It is Christmas everywhere. Sometimes I live on Zeon. Sometimes I live on Earth. I switch back and forth in an instant, so no one knows where I am. Only I know. :)

Living in pain is like living on another planet. You see the lights. You see the trimmings. You see the gifts. But in the pain, everything is different for the person in the pain.

In the pain, there are some things much more important than the pain. The people in your life are more important than the pain. Jesus is more important than the pain. Your life is more important than the pain. Most important of all, your blessings are more important than your pain. Count them. Count your blessings one by one. You see the great things God has done...even in your pain.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord place His healing hands upon you to give you comfort and peace.

Keep An Edge

Pastor's Web Site Find The Power

Pain has a tendency to take away our edge. Our alertness level can begin to drop, especially if we are on some kind of pain med. Our thinking begins to slow down as we get buried under the daily burden of pain. We spend so much energy trying to get from one moment to the next, we lose sight of what is just in front of us.

For me, music is an answer. When the music reaches my ears I start to get some of my edge back. Your edge will likely be different. If you don't know what "reaches you" begin to take notice. For some people, reading a great novel or story, walking, writing, cooking, or any kind of healthy activity can benefit you. Every person is different.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord place His healing hands upon you to give you comfort and peace.

The Death Of Ego

Pastor's Web Site Find The Power

Ego is a friend of mine. Unfortunately, ego is not the kind of friend anyone would want. The more I hurt, the more trouble I have keeping ego silent and away from me. Ego wants what ego wants when ego wants it. Ego wants attention. Ego wants other people to notice. Ego is evil. Ego is from Satan. Ego is not reserved for the rich and famous. Ego afflicts everyone, rich or poor, in pain or out of pain. Ego takes advantage...every advantage possible. Ego makes you hurt worse. Ego delights in making you hurt.

To deal with ego, I try to talk to God. I know God hears me on some level of knowing. Sometimes I "KNOW" God hears me and sometimes I sorta know He hears me. The more I talk to God the less power ego has over me.

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord place His healing hands upon you to give you comfort and peace.
